Body Butters In-Depth
Emollient and antioxidant rich oils such as Kukui Nut, Meadowfoam seed, and Jojoba penetrate the skin and moisturize. Elderberry extract provides phytonutrients that exhibit both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, such as caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, ferulic acid, and quercetin. Elderberry also contains anthocyanins, which have been shown to help boost the immune system. Non-GMO Vitamin E oil is added to ensure your butters and oils last without becoming rancid. Organic tapioca starch and RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) cetyl alcohol make our body butters lighter and drier without adding water and preservatives. Cetyl alcohol is not an alcohol, but a fatty acid used in cosmetics to thicken a product and soften the skin. Our Omega body butter does not contain cetyl alcohol, which may be irritating to those with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
Solar Muse body butters are made without water, so no conventional preservative is needed. Lotions generally contain up to 80% water, so think of these butters as extra thick lotions and a little goes a long way! Our body butters are formulated with only nourishing ingredients. Please do not dip wet hands into Solar Muse products. Introducing even tiny amounts of water will encourage mold and bacteria growth. Elderberry extract will diminish mold and bacteria growth, but is not 100% effective.
Currently, body butters melt at body temperature, so please don't leave it in a hot car or take it to the beach in the summer. If it should melt, it will retain all its wonderful properties, but won't be so fluffy. Just place it in the fridge for 30 minutes and you are good to go! We are currently reformulating our lush body butters to withstand higher temperatures without compromising skin feel or product integrity.
